Plastic Injection Mold Manufacturing Process

Generally, the plastic injection mold manufacturing process includes the following steps:

Step 1: Receiving Customer Requirements

To manufacture a precise plastic injection mold, the first and most crucial step is to understand the customer’s requirements. Information provided by the customer such as material, volume, mold type, production output, etc., is essential. Based on this information, a suitable mold design is developed.

Step 2: Mold Design

This is the most critical step in the mold manufacturing process as it directly impacts the accuracy and quality of the final product.

Step 3: Mold Manufacturing

Milling machines, lathes, drilling machines, etc., are commonly used to machine the details, surfaces, and cavities of the mold. After machining, the mold needs to be polished and thoroughly cleaned. The surface quality of the plastic products depends on the smoothness of the mold cavity, so the polishing process is always carried out meticulously.

Step 4: Mold Assembly

Once the mold components and parts are completed, the technicians will check the quantity and specifications to ensure everything is accurate. Then, they will proceed to assemble the components into a complete mold.

Step 5: Mold Testing

After the assembly is completed, the mold will be tested to ensure it operates correctly and meets the customer’s requirements. Any errors in the mold will be fixed and corrected before it is delivered to the customer.

Step 6: Packing and Delivery

The plastic injection mold is carefully and meticulously packed. Then, it is delivered to the customer according to the agreed timeline in the contract.
