1. What is a Fire Prevention and Fighting Drill, and Why is it Necessary?

1.1 Fire Prevention and Fighting Drill:

A fire prevention and fighting drill is an activity that simulates a real-life fire scenario to train and enhance awareness and skills in fire safety for everyone.

– Through such drills, individuals gain valuable and practical knowledge that can be applied at home, in workplaces, supermarkets, during travel, and other scenarios where fires might occur.

– These drills are a beneficial routine activity in modern life, regularly conducted at factories, apartment buildings, shopping malls, office towers, schools, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, and more.

1.2 Why Are Fire Prevention and Fighting Drills Necessary?

– Raise Awareness: Helps people clearly understand the dangers of fires and the importance of prevention.

– Skill Development: Provides practical knowledge and skills to respond effectively in the event of a fire.

– System Assessment: Evaluates the effectiveness of fire alarms, firefighting systems, and evacuation plans.

– Identify and Address Weaknesses: Pinpoints shortcomings in fire prevention measures for timely correction.

– Minimize Losses: Reduces potential damage to life and property during a fire.

2. ATT Vietnam Investment Technology Joint Stock Company Conducts Fire Prevention and Fighting Drill

– To ensure fire safety, ATT Vietnam Investment Technology Joint Stock Company collaborated with the Fire Prevention and Fighting – Rescue Department of Thach That District Police to organize a fire prevention and fighting drill at the company’s factory. All company employees participated in the training session.

– During the training session, in addition to providing information about several major fire incidents that caused significant loss of life and property nationwide and in Hanoi in recent years, the instructor shared fundamental knowledge on fire prevention and fighting. This included the causes of fires and explosions and measures for fire safety at the workplace and home. Moreover, employees were trained on how to use onsite firefighting equipment, escape techniques, and firefighting methods.

Assumed Scenario for the Drill:

– Assumed Firefighting and Rescue Scenario: The scenario is based on the most complex fire situation outlined in the firefighting plan developed by the Thach That District Police and approved by the unit’s leadership on September 23, 2024.

+ Time of fire outbreak: 10:30 AM, October 28, 2024.

+ Fire starting point: Warehouse area – Workshop No. 2.

+ Primary combustible materials: Plastic, paper, electrical equipment, etc.

+ Cause of fire/explosion: Electrical short circuit.

– Expected fire development:

+ Due to the highly combustible materials (plastic and paper) in the area, the fire is expected to spread rapidly and intensely, extending to neighboring areas.

+ The fire’s spread rate is approximately 1 meter per minute.

+ The flames are expected to propagate in all directions, forming a circular spread pattern, making it challenging to pinpoint the fire’s origin and complicating firefighting efforts.

– The drill provided the company’s onsite fire prevention and fighting team with practical experience, enhancing their skills in implementing firefighting operations. It also enabled them to proactively fulfill their role in fire prevention and rescue, avoiding passivity or surprise, and effectively rescuing people and protecting property during fire emergencies.

– The drill was conducted smoothly and professionally. The company’s employees coordinated seamlessly with professional firefighting forces, ensuring the drill’s success while maintaining the safety of personnel, property, and equipment.

– This is an annual activity of the company, aimed at raising awareness and equipping all employees with basic knowledge of fire safety and prevention.
